"Inspiration for Songwriters" now available

Inspiration for Songwriters: Tips and Tricks to Unlocking the Muse"Inspiration for Songwriters: Tips and Tricks to Unlocking the Muse" was the first title available in the Stony Meadow Publishing songwriting series.

"Inspiration for Songwriters: Tips and Tricks to Unlocking the Muse" is not your typical book about songwriting. It does not explain how to write, publish, pitch, promote or record your next song. There are already dozens of other songwriting books covering those subjects. What "Inspiration For Songwriters" provides is something few other songwriting books offer. And in our humble opinion, it does it much better than the few similar titles we could find. It provides thousands of inspirational ideas that could very well be the seeds to your next song! All in all, "Inspiration for Songwriters" includes over 2000 titles, tips, tricks and other ideas that will inspire you to create song after song.

UPDATE!  Stan is currently hard at work on revising Inspiration for Songwriters. The 2nd edition will contain more pages and lots of additional material for songwriters at all stages of their careers. New segments in the revised edition will include more power words (used in alliterative phrases to show how powerful they really are), new songwriting exercises, real thoughts from real songwriters on how they get inspired, a greatly expanded Songwriter's Resource Appendix with dozens of listings of songwriter magazines, books and software. A listing of 101 cliches you can either use in your songs or re-write to make the cliche your own, as well as an appendix of chords charts for guitarists. This newly revised and expanded edition will definitely belong on your bookshelf! We expect the newly revised 2nd Edition to be available the first quarter of 2010. Youwon't want to miss it!

What they are saying about "Inspiration for Songwriters"...

"This book is packed with innovative jet fuel that will set your mind soaring into the creative stratosphere. There are hundreds of imaginative ideas here to unlock the imagination. If you've always wanted to write songs and can't find at least one tip worth the price of the book, perhaps you should consider another pursuit -- like collecting Popsicle sticks or licking envelopes." --Bob Lind, songwriter ("Elusive Butterfly", "Cheryl's Going Home" and "Mister Zero".) and author.

"Nice job, Stan! I'm sure this will be useful to songwriters at all stages of their careers." --Kenn Amdahl, author of "Joy Writing" and several other books.

"Wow, what a great idea for a book. You don't just read it once and put it away, you go back to it again and again whenever you need some new ideas or a jump-start." -- C. Buckles, Denver CO

"I hadn't flipped through more than a few pages, just reading random bits and pieces, before I had more ideas for new songs than I could shake a stick at. In the hierarchy of books, this one clearly falls into the category of those that accomplish what they set out to do. And that is a substantial achievement." --Ed Teja -- The Muse's Muse

Presenting An Inside Look At:

Inspiration For Songwriters

The following is an excerpt from "Inspiration For Songwriters":

Inspiration. Thatís what it all comes down to, doesnít it?

You are a songwriter. I am a songwriter. We are siblings with ink stains on our fingers and throbbing skulls from pounding our heads against the wall. We search for a muse that is swift and evasive and which there never seems to be enough to go around.

We write our words on napkins and envelopes and scraps of paper we find on the floor. We nourish and feed them and hope they will grow into creatures we can be proud of.

But what do we do when the Muse decides itís time to take a vacation to the Caribbean? We certainly canít afford to follow her. Our instinct is to simply wait until she returns and every time she leaves we fear that maybe this time she wonít come back. Why should she? After all, the sand and surf of Martinique or Barbados is mighty inviting.

I think thatís the part that frightens us the most. For we can no more stop writing songs than we can stop breathing.  And so we breathe that deep sigh of relief when the Muse shows up on our doorstep at least one more time. It seems she had a return ticket after all.

But the question remains. Why is she not around when we need her the most? Itís not like she has a 9 to 5 job. Where does she go and why? Is she on a flight to Paris or simply hiding in our sock drawer? Are there ways to summon her back before sheís finished contemplating the Mona Lisa and patting herself on the back for all the help she gave old Leonardo?

The answer is yes, my friend, you certainly can. She may be hiding in your coat pocket in the closet, but sheís an inquisitive little gal and there are many ways to summon her out of hiding. And thatís what this book is all about.
